Thank Your Cleaner Day: Celebrating the people behind Peartree

Today, on Thank Your Cleaner Day, we’re recognising the dedication, professionalism and care of the cleaning teams who support our clients and their workplaces across the UK.

As we mark 40 years of Peartree, this is an opportunity to celebrate the people who have helped build our reputation as an independent, family-run cleaning business.

This year, we’re shining a spotlight on two exceptional colleagues: Chanel Jenkins, a Cleaning Operative at Penguin Frating in Essex, and Fiona Russell, a Cleaning Supervisor at SS&C Erskine Court in Scotland.

Both have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to their teams, their clients and the workplaces they help maintain.

Meet Chanel Jenkins | Penguin Frating, Essex

Chanel has been part of the Peartree team for over four years, becoming a trusted and valued colleague at Penguin Frating.

Known for her reliability, initiative and willingness to support others, Chanel consistently goes beyond her day-to-day responsibilities. Whether volunteering for additional shifts, helping new colleagues settle into their roles or stepping in when the team needs extra support, she approaches every challenge with care and commitment.

When a significant leak caused disruption at the site, Chanel came in early of her own accord to help manage the situation, demonstrating the initiative and sense of responsibility that her colleagues have come to rely upon.

Her contribution extends well beyond cleaning standards. Chanel regularly leaves encouraging messages, quizzes and questions on the staff noticeboard, helping to bring colleagues together and brighten their working day. She also makes a point of celebrating birthdays and supporting teammates when they need a helping hand.

The wider Penguin Frating team has achieved an average quality audit score of 99.7% across 23 monthly audits, reflecting the consistently high standards to which Chanel contributes.

Operations Manager Abigail Payne describes Chanel’s impact:

“Chanel is someone I feel incredibly lucky to have on my team. She notices when a colleague needs a hand and steps in, making sure they don’t feel left to manage on their own.”

Chanel is also developing her skills and taking on additional responsibilities, with ambitions to progress further within Peartree.

Meet Fiona Russell | SS&C Erskine Court, Scotland

Fiona joined Peartree as a Cleaning Operative over three years ago and was promoted to Cleaning Supervisor within just a few months.

Today, she supervises a team of four operatives while continuing to undertake housekeeping responsibilities, combining hands-on service delivery with supportive, practical leadership.

Fiona is known for leading by example. She takes the time to coach new colleagues, maintain communication across different shifts and ensure her team feels supported, particularly when unexpected challenges arise.

During a prolonged drainage issue at Erskine Court, which required temporary changes to the building’s facilities, Fiona organised the necessary cleaning arrangements, personally trained her team and maintained standards throughout the disruption. Once the issue was resolved, she checked the facilities before normal operations resumed.

Her commitment is reflected in the site’s performance. Across 14 quality audits from August 2025 to September 2026, Erskine Court achieved an average score of 99.4%, with four health and safety audits each achieving 100%.

Fiona’s contribution is equally valued by the client. Nina Luti, Senior Facilities Manager at SS&C Erskine Court, shared:

“Fiona is an incredible asset, not only to her own company but also to us as the client. She takes genuine pride in her work and consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of her.”

Her progression from Cleaning Operative to Supervisor is a fantastic example of the opportunities available to colleagues who demonstrate dedication, initiative and leadership.

Recognising Our People Across the UK

From Essex to Scotland, Chanel and Fiona represent the commitment of Peartree colleagues working across our nationwide portfolio of client sites.

While their roles and workplaces differ, they share the same qualities: pride in their work, a genuine willingness to help others and a commitment to delivering consistently high cleaning standards.

As an independent, family-run business celebrating its 40th anniversary, we know that our success has always depended on the people delivering our services every day.

This Thank Your Cleaner Day, we’re delighted to recognise Chanel and Fiona with a personal thank-you gift in appreciation of their contribution.

To Chanel, Fiona and every member of our cleaning teams across the UK: thank you for everything you do.
