Sustainable commercial cleaning, measured and independently assessed
We reduce the impact of our services through verified data and practical change, and we help clients meet their own environmental and social targets.
Measuring our progress
Sustainability at Peartree runs through how we design services, employ and develop our people, choose suppliers and report performance. We measure our organisational footprint, set science-based carbon targets, and use Peartree 360 to give clients clear visibility of the environmental and social outcomes connected to their cleaning service. We do this all without losing sight of the purpose of the contract: a safe, consistent and well-managed workplace.

How we help you to achieve your ESG targets
Most of our clients have their own ESG commitments. Our role is to help you achieve them, with evidence you can report.
We start from the targets that matter to you and the way your building is actually used, rather than applying a fixed template. From there we design the service around real occupancy, recommend practical changes to products, consumables, equipment, waste and scheduling, and set shared objectives that map to your wider ESG strategy.
Peartree 360 then makes the outcomes visible: site-level environmental and social data you can take straight into supplier reviews, tenders and ESG reporting. And because we review performance throughout the contract, the improvements and the evidence behind them continue, rather than stopping at mobilisation.
Our role is not to add another layer of sustainability language to your contract. It is to identify practical changes, implement them properly and show the result.
Our approach
Environmental performance
We measure Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and let the data direct where we invest. In practice that means a 98% electric fleet, with the remaining hybrids scheduled for replacement; occupancy-led scheduling that avoids cleaning empty space; and equipment and dosing methods that cut water, energy and chemical use, alongside concentrated products and less single-use packaging. Our carbon reporting is independently verified, our reduction targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, and audits and compliance records sit in Peartree 360 so progress is visible rather than asserted.
Peartree’s Commitment to Science-Based Targets, A Sustainable Future
People and social value
A sustainable service depends on stable, fairly treated people. We employ our operational teams directly and invest in their training, wellbeing and progression. From structured induction and multilingual learning to apprenticeships and routes into supervision and management, supported by an Employee Assistance Programme and financial wellbeing guidance. We recruit locally, keep entry-level roles accessible, and back community organisations through volunteering and employability partnerships. The result is measured social value that we align with your priorities.
Responsible governance
Governance is what keeps all of this consistent. Our integrated ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, supplier due diligence and ethical-employment controls — including modern slavery prevention — apply the same way across a single site or a national portfolio. Ownership sits with named people on our executive and specialist leadership teams, and we review performance, legislation and improvement priorities regularly rather than at year-end. Our carbon data is independently verified and our wider ESG systems externally assessed.
Does sustainable cleaning cost more?
Not necessarily. Measures such as controlled dosing, occupancy-led schedules, efficient equipment and reduced waste can lower resource use and operating cost. Recommendations are assessed for service, financial and environmental value before implementation.
Can Peartree support our organisation’s ESG objectives?
Yes. We work with clients to identify practical initiatives linked to their buildings and priorities, then monitor implementation and performance throughout the contract.
Can Peartree provide site-level ESG data?
Yes. Peartree 360 can provide relevant environmental, social, compliance and service information through a single client dashboard. The exact measures are agreed during mobilisation so reporting remains useful and proportionate.
How is Peartree’s ESG performance independently assessed?
Our carbon footprint is independently verified through Neutral Carbon Zone, our targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, and our wider ESG systems are assessed through EcoVadis. We also operate certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
