Contributing to local economies and supporting charities

As a value-driven organisation, we want to do good across our communities. Operating throughout all four nations of the UK, we have a responsibility to make sure that we’re having a positive impact by boosting employment, contributing to local economies and supporting charities.

Last year, we began a journey to improve our social value strategy. Through working with experts, we have found new opportunities to help out and engage our people. As an employer of 1,400 individuals across the UK, we want to deliver social value which matters to them, and makes a difference across their communities.

To achieve this goal, we have broadened our social value offering. In addition to regular charitable donations, we began volunteering on a weekly basis at our local foodbank. This has had a massive impact and supported those in need to receive essential food parcels.

Perhaps most significantly, we invested in our communications and used messaging and surveys to learn more about what matters to our team. This led us to supporting new causes, such as a South American community group in London. We also learned more about the fantastic fundraising efforts across our team. We are pleased to share two examples below.

Monika Mason has been part of the Peartree family long-term, working at Olympus UK in Southend. She does a fantastic job for our client, and we were so proud to learn about her marathon running fundraisers for Children with Cancer UK. Children with Cancer UK is a charity close to Monika’s heart, and one which helps support children and their families affected by cancer. As a keen runner, Monika spends her free time training and fundraising for marathons, including London and Berlin. This year, she beat her PB at London with an impressive time of 4 hours and 18 minutes.

Another inspiring story comes from Jane Fiorentino, our valued operative at Penguin Grantham. Jane is currently undertaking a solo 1,500-mile cycling challenge for Kidney Research UK in memory of her father. We’re so impressed, and keen to honour her father’s legacy. Peartree proudly donated to Jane and continues to support her, keeping up to date with cycling stats as she continues with her challenge.

By donating to these and other charitable efforts, we have got to know our teams better and helped make a difference where it matters most. We’re excited to hear more stories from across our wonderful network and continue to support our communities.
