Olympus are an international leader in the manufacture and supply of specialised medical and industrial equipment. Employing over 1,000 people at its purpose-built headquarters in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Olympus is recognized world leader in the manufacturer of high-quality electro-optical products, such as cameras and microscopes and endoscopic instrumentation, for both medical and industrial applications.

The Requirements

Our relationship with Olympus started in 2006, and recently we awarded a new 5-year extension in April 2019. From the very beginning of our relationship and to date., Olympus require a high-quality service solution supported by a proactive account and senior management team. The quality of the fixtures, fittings and fabrics used throughout the different buildings is quite simply stunning and compares to any City or Canary Wharf building.

The campus consists of a Head Office, Manufacturing facility and Research & Development facility. The campus also has its own nursery school for employees’ children, which we are responsible for. Each building is diverse with its own cleaning needs.

Our Solution

Olympus is a specialist facility, and as such we carry out intensive induction and task specific training across the entire cleaning team. We continually invest in high productivity cleaning equipment and reengineer the service in this fluid working environment. Through the four consecutive contract awards we have also reorganised and redeployed our people in the most efficient manner possible. Creating Individual areas of ownership which has raised standards across the campus.

We have changed the perception of the Housekeeping and have created a front of house culture performed by a highly visible yet discreet team. Our DAY team play a vital role ensuring the cleanliness of the campus for the enjoyment and comfort of the Olympus employees. 
We also evaluated periodic cleaning tasks, and how these were carried out and by whom. We felt that self-delivery was the best option. We provided the equipment and specialist training and now the majority of periodic cleans are completed by our in-house team. Unusually for Peartree the only task we use a specialist service partner for, is the window and facade cleaning.

Throughout our relationship with Olympus, we have provided senior management support to the account. Review meetings are always attended by a board director to review the service model and analyse the 360 data collected.
